Katarina began ice-skating at age five. When her talent for skating was more evident, she received an entry to a Karl-Marx-Stadt school, which focuses on kids with a sporty ability. At this school, she was introduced to the teacher Jutta Muler. Witt was able to make her mark in the second position she placed at the 1982 World Championships, held in Copenhagen. Since then, Witt's grace and beauty have captured all the attention of people. Olympic victory Katarina (now Witt) was awarded the Figure Skating Gold Medal at Sarajevo in the Sarajevo Winter Games. Four years later, that she was able to win an even more intense race. Free skates were an unbeatable loss. However, the gold medal was awarded to her because of the performances she made at both mandatory figures (short programme) and the compulsory figures. Witt was the only woman after Sonja Haenie who was a repeat figure skating winner. Hall of Fame After enjoying the success of an actress, Witt returned to the sport to compete at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games. Although she didn't win a medal, Witt delighted her fans despite coming in seventh. Witt was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame by the members of it in 1995.
